Brandy Wallace has been with IS Architecture for four years and has been an integral part of both its custom residential and historic preservation projects. Her most recently completed residential projects are two adjacent Craftsman and Colonial Revival homes in La Jolla , California . Ms. Wallace, as the Project Manager, was responsible for as-built plans, design of elevations, sections, and details, complete construction documents, City of San Diego permitting, and observation during construction. She is currently in the Design and Construction Document phases for 8 residential remodels/additions in Point Loma, Mission Hills, Del Mar, La Jolla, and Encinitas. Ms. Wallace has also broadened her portfolio with historic preservation work on the Casa de Bandini and Casa de Pico in Old Town .
Ms. Wallace’s extensive experience in high-end custom residential architecture started at Island Architects in La Jolla . Island was impressed with Ms. Wallace’s creative talent & asked her to relocate to California from Virginia , where she had recently graduated. In her first year at the firm, she was responsible for the design development of a 20,000 sq. ft. home in La Jolla Farms. This project is currently under construction and is located directly across from the largest home in California . She was then utilized in every aspect of the design process from schematic drawings to construction documents in her next series of projects. These projects included two estates in Rancho Santa Fe, a complete remodel of an existing home, an addition of a master suite & three other projects in La Jolla . She was the designated model-maker for all projects, rendered plans and elevations for meetings, and created standards within the office. For her last project with Island Architects, she completed the full set of drawings for a 7,500 sq. ft. La Jolla home including detailed drawings for cabinetry, fireplaces, stonework, and ironwork.
Ms. Wallace graduated with honors from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) receiving her Bachelors of Architecture. Her design training was extensive through college & included a three-month study abroad program of European architecture. Also, she interned with three architecture firms and won two scholarships. The first scholarship was for an essay on Ethics in Practice. The second she was awarded for Excellence in her fourth year of college; which included a summer internship at one of the leading design firms in Richmond , Virginia . Through her internships, she was exposed to a variety of architectural projects. This included work on a convention center, a modern waterfront home, multiple university buildings, government housing projects and various design competitions.
